Course Description
Emphasis is placed on the writing process, including audience analysis, topic selection, thesis support and development, editing, and revision. Upon completion, you will be able to produce unified, coherent, well-developed essays.
Objectives
• Identify your audience and make appropriate writing choices considering your readers
• Identify, correct, and improve grammatical and mechanical problems in writing
• Distinguish between objective and subjective information
• Summarize and paraphrase written works
• Use varied sentence construction and appropriate word usage in all written work
• Analyze and evaluate written works
• Integrate an understanding of research and proper documentation procedures into a research project

Prerequisites
• Basic familiarity with e-mail and the Internet
• ASSET score of at least 83, or SAT score of at least 510, or ACT score of at least 22 (Note: If scores aren’t met, developmental courses will be required.)
