Course Description
This class will teach you to construct, analyze, verify, and troubleshoot digital circuits using appropriate techniques and test equipment. We will cover combinational and sequential logic circuits, number systems, Boolean algebra, logic families, MSI and LSI circuits, AD/DA conversion, and other related topics.
Objectives
• Differentiate between digital circuits and linear (analog) circuits
• Differentiate between digital and analog signals
• Convert binary numbers to decimal and decimal numbers to binary
• Learn name, symbol, truth table, function, and Boolean expressions for the eight basic logic gates
• Discuss selected TTL and CMOS IC specifications such as input and output voltages, noise margin, drive capability, fan-in, fan-out, propagation delay, and power consumption
• Understand the basics of encoding, decoding, and seven-segment displays
• Understand the basic operation of flip-flops, counters, and registers
